& Album Launch

Brighter Day 2022 Tour & Album Launch

In September 2022 our band Reality Boots, made up of passionate individuals each with unique experiences, were joined by special guests to perform new tracks from their brand new album Breaking Barriers at Cluny 2 in Newcastle's Ouseburn. This was the culmination of seven months of activity which saw members of our band work with partners at Standing Upright in North Tyneside, Jack Drum Arts in County Durham and Musinc in Middlesbrough to create new songs, inspired by national themes such as Holocaust Memorial Day and Refugee Week. These new songs were shared with audiences across the North East of England at venues including The Exchange in North Shields, Bishop Auckland Town Hall and Brinkburn Street Brewery in Newcastle as part of the band's Brighter Day 2022 Tour. Gigs also took place in July 2022 at Sage Gateshead, Ouseburn Festival and Walker Workers Week.

"A great night, really enjoyed it. I've listened to 'Breaking Barriers' twice now... it is Musical Gold!
Congratulations to you all.

Behind the Scenes at Blank Studios

In August and September 2022 over 20 young musicians from across the North East of England headed to Blank Studios in Newcastle to record 12 new tracks which explore themes including loss, healing and the environment. Supported by studio manager Chris McManus and engineer Josh, this talented group of young musicians experienced what it was like to be in a recording studio, many for the first time.

"It's been fantastic... There are a lot of new members in the group. Seeing all the people working together who necessarily wouldn't naturally meet each other or collaborate but to see them all in the creative environment working together was really inspiring."

Reality Boots: Brighter Day 2022 Tour

Ahead of the launch of their third album Reality Boots toured the North East collaborating with other artists to inspire young people with songs infused with various genres to get the body moving and minds thinking. Audiences were then invited to join the band for an evening of eclectic music as part of their Brighter Day 2022 North East tour.

Venues & Dates:

Tickets were free, and audiences were encouraged to Pay What You Feel on the night.

Ahead of the tour band Leader Nicole Davis said: “We’re really excited about sharing our unique sound with audiences across the region as part of this special six-date tour. We’ve been collaborating with other young musicians and artists from across the region to create a number of powerful new songs, each with an important message, that will be showcased as part of the tour.

Members of Standing Upright in North Tyneside, Jack Drum Arts in County Durham and Band Jam at Musinc in Middlesbrough as well as musician, actor and rapper Kema Kay will each join us to support a gig on their home turf. We hope that young people from a range of backgrounds, many whom have never experienced a gig before, will come together to enjoy this free live music event in their local community.
