Skimstone Arts is an artist-led, multi-arts organisation, passionate about working with diverse artists and communities to:

  • produce a programme of professional touring performances, radio, exhibitions and the annual UNITY Festival

  • collaborate with communities to create authentic artworks locally, nationally and internationally about humanity and the environment

  • support our Young Artists Collective, Echo Artists and their band Reality Boots to create work for our programmed events

  • contribute to social action and research with Universities and partners

Join our Artistic Director Claire Webster Saaremets and Associate Artist Ako Ismail as they look back at our involvement in Refugee Week 2022. This is a chance to hear stories from performers with lived refugee experiences who were involved in creating the Minds of Healing Hearts and discover how they express their journey both before and after performing at Newcastle University and at ARC Stockton. Listeners will also be able to hear how audience response to our photographic exhibition One Day Changes featuring work by photojournalists Ako Ismail and Shahor Omar which was on display in Newcastle University's Long Gallery from Friday 24 June to Thursday 30 June and much, much more.
