Peter Saaremets is an experienced musician and performer who has worked with Skimstone Arts for the last 9 years. Before joining Skimstone Arts he was experienced as a performing musician for 16 years specialising in Jazz and performing at Jazz venues across the North East. With Skimstone Arts he has devised, improvised and performed in Doorbells (Barnsley CIVIC Theatre and Northern Stage Scratch Nights, Edinburgh Festival), Peace Process-ion (Sunderland Minster / Sanctuary Arts Space Gateshead) and Cold Coffee (Edinburgh Festival), Tea-side – a Travelling Tearoom (North East of England), Time for Tea (Part of Open Heritage Days in Newcastle), Angel Train, Dust and Sojourn (Washington Arts Centre) trained with Frantic Assembly and Spymonkey at Hull Truck Theatre.
He continues to be Lead Artist and supports young people facing life challenges to write, compose and perform their own songs in major public settings.

A FREE music and arts festival celebrating humanity, nature and social action.
UNITY Festival 2023 took place at Ouseburn Community Centre on Saturday 25 March from 10am to 5pm. This FREE music and arts Festival celebrated humanity, nature and social action. Including live music, performance, arts, exhibitions, creative workshops and outdoors trails Festival-goers of all ages took part in a jam-packed programme of events.
Now in its third year, UNITY Festival 2023 built on the legacy of previous Festivals to lay a strong foundation for future creative activity in Newcastle upon Tyne. This year’s Festival consolidated existing relationships with artists, partners and organisations such as Action Asylum, the Natural History Society of Northumbria and Nii Qwartey Owoo whilst also nurturing new relationships including those with Ouseburn Community Centre, Hannabiell and the Midnight Blue Collective, Lawnmowers’ Beat This, Circus Central, Ouseburn Trust and the West End Refugee Service.
"UNITY Festival 2023 is an opportunity for people from all walks of life to come together to be part of a community, explore the natural world and consider what we can do to make a difference. Created with diversity at its heart this playful, creative free Festival has been co-designed with community groups we work with across the North East of England."

UNITY Festival 2023 was free. Admission to the Preston Park Museum was also free to ensure the Festival was as inclusive and accessible as possible.

UNITY Festival 2023 has been supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England as well as funding from Youth Music, Community Foundation Tyne & Wear, Garfield Weston and Community Fund.
