UNITY Festival 2022

Friday 4 to Sunday 6 March 2022

UNITY Festival 2022

A free music and story festival celebrating community, nature and social action.

UNITY Festival was a weekend of FREE live music, performance, arts, exhibitions, stories and workshops. Set in and around the beautiful surroundings of Newcastle’s Ouseburn Valley, Byker and Ballast Hills Park, festival-goers of all ages were able to take part in a jam-packed programme of events to celebrate community, nature and social action.

From playful percussion, joyful African dance workshops and a pop-up choir to bug hotels, pledge flags and pottery making sessions this was a chance for people to come together and explore music, arts and nature.

Headlining the Festival on Saturday 5 March at 4.15pm was international Kurdish composer Rzgar Hama Rauf live from Kurdistan, Iraq followed at 5pm by TV presenter, author and President of the RSPB Miranda Krestovnikoff live from Bristol. West African band Asasaa Ensemble raised the roof with a special set to bring festivities to a close on Sunday 6 March at 5.30pm.
