The Garden Song

IMG_2676 3.jpeg

This Summer we've been enjoying the sunshine with the brilliant team at St Anthony's Day Centre for a new project called The Garden Song. Our Artistic Director Claire Webster Saaremets and Lead Musician Peter Saaremets have been working with visitors to the Centre to co-create a song a day with five groups inspired by the Centre's newly developed garden area. Exploring why green areas are important to our own lives and the planet the amazing staff and horticulturalist Iona Heaton have been helping us to capture ideas in photography and lyrics. Oh, and of course, we couldn't miss the opportunity to do some busking!

The final collection of songs, poems and spoken word will be performed and played back into the new garden space.

"The work you did (with the music and photography) was fantastic especially now that we can do some of this ourselves and I am hoping to purchase a couple of iPads.  The service users had a lovely time yesterday, such a lovely group."

Claire Dodd (Day Care Manager) St Anthony of Padua Community Association

"We should make a CD of our songs…I think the world should listen to them." Participant

"It's been fantastic to work in St Anthony's again and reconnect to the community. Drawing on the inspiration of their newly created garden space we've created a songbook of new songs and photomontages that speak about the importance and impact of green spaces in our lives and on the planet."
Peter Saaremets, Lead Musician at Skimstone Arts
