Reaching Out Festival

Reaching Out project is driven by a leadership team of young people from Newcastle, who have formed Team Reaching Out and consist of members of Team Juice and Skimstone Arts’ Leadership Team. Team Reaching Out will be supported by Skimstone Arts’ experienced artists and its freelance project manager and producer from Juice Festival to engage new young people in Newcastle aged 14 to 25 to be making work, organising mini festivals in their communities and connecting with cultural venues in the city.

Over the last year, the Reaching Out team has held a range of events, including a major festival, in venues across Newcastle.

The Reaching Out team has spent time building partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders in young people’s lives across Newcastle, including Newcastle Community Asset Trust in Blakelaw, Walker Riverside Academy, The Bostey in Walker, St Michael’s Cafe in Byker and Kidz Kabin in Walker/Byker/Cowgate.

We are currently working with The Bostey in Walker and St Michael’s Cafe in Byker, as well as Skimstone Arts city centre venue, to give young people free music, creative writing and film workshops, supporting them to learn a new instrument, develop a talent and make new friends.
