Carol Candler

Carol joined Skimstone Arts as a trustee in September 2017 and is excited about being able to bring her voluntary sector development experience to support the organisation in its diverse and socially important work.

Carol is a past director of Northern Rock Foundation and spent five years heading the Evaluation and Research team at One North East. Since her recent return from sabbatical in Singapore, where she volunteered in support of gender rights organisation, Aware, and worked with Lien Centre for Social Innovation on research into unmet social need and elder care, Carol has been involved in representing voluntary sector perspectives in developing health and care services.

Carol’s career has included a wide range of experience in research, evaluation and management in the NHS and Social Care as well as earlier experience in research and development for P&G. Carol is currently working with evaluation and organisational development consultancy, Brightpurpose, and getting back up to speed with her practice as a VJ and video artist.

Carol studied History of Modern Art, Design and Film at Northumbria University and has an MSc. in Health and Social Research. Carol is a member of the American Evaluation Association and is a founding member of Digital Women’s Network – a voluntary organisation supporting women into opportunities in digital and new media.
